Grand Seiko introduces the Tentagraph movement within the Tokyo Lion design, a bold and angular case that reflects the brand’s pursuit of high-performance watchmaking. The SLGC009 marks the first mechanical model to feature this lion-inspired case, now crafted in Brilliant Hard Titanium for enhanced durability and a refined finish.
The case design highlights hairline-finished, claw-like surfaces extending from the lugs to the bezel, while the dial pattern evokes the flowing mane of a lion. Three-dimensional sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock enhance legibility by reducing the distance between the markings and hands. Diamond-cut indexes reflect light with precision and are elevated in height to accommodate Lumibrite for improved visibility in any setting.
Complementing the design, a newly developed rubber strap offers nearly 2.7 times the tensile strength of a typical Grand Seiko silicone strap, with a rich brown hue that pairs seamlessly with the patterned dial.
At its core, the watch is powered by the Tentagraph Caliber 9SC5, Grand Seiko’s first mechanical chronograph movement. Designed for both performance and longevity, it features a 72-hour power reserve while the chronograph is in use. The movement incorporates a Dual Impulse escapement, twin barrels, and a high-frequency 10-beat regulation system, alongside a column wheel, vertical clutch, and three-pointed hammer—hallmarks of precision chronograph engineering. The pushers have been refined to enhance ease of use, offering a precise and responsive feel with each press, further elevating the chronograph’s functionality.
The Tentagraph is Grand Seiko’s automatic high-beat chronograph, powered by the Caliber 9SC5, which builds upon the renowned Caliber 9SA5. With SLGC009, the Grand Seiko Tentagraph movement is introduced in the Tokyo Lion design, inspired by the symbol of Grand Seiko.
Thoughtfully arranged, the hands align precisely with the indexes, while recessed sub-dials add depth and clarity. The stunning lion-gold dial pattern takes inspiration from the mane of the lion as it waves in the wind.
The SLGC009 introduces Grand Seiko’s Brilliant Hard Titanium to the Sport Collection for the first time. Brighter than traditional titanium, the alloy enhances the contrast between the case’s hairline-finished and Zaratsu-polished surfaces, accentuating its bold design.
The Tentagraph’s Caliber 9SC5 sets a new standard for high-beat chronographs, combining precision with endurance. Its name reflects its key attributes: a 10-beat-per-second movement, a 72-hour power reserve—even with the chronograph running—and automatic winding.
