In February 2021, Grand Seiko introduced a Hi-Beat timepiece with a dial design incorporating a series of delicate swirling forms, a detail that pulls inspiration from the intricate nature of tree rings. That timepiece, reference SLGH007, celebrated the 140th anniversary of the company’s founding, and it won high praise from enthusiasts and collectors across the globe. SLGA008 is a new creation that incorporates the tree rings dial, and it is powered by a new Spring Drive movement, caliber 9RA2.
The visible variations in the brown dial reveal the depth of the wood grain pattern. The case, crafted from 18k rose gold, alternates between Zaratsu-polished, distortion-free mirror finishing and delicate hairline finishing, giving the timepiece a quiet and harmonious glow. It also has wide lugs and a low center of gravity that ensures that the watch sits comfortably and securely on the wrist.
SLGA008 carries the latest Spring Drive caliber 9RA2, which offers a 120-hour power reserve and an enhanced precision rate of ±0.5 seconds per day. It inherits all the impressive performance specifications from 9RA5, but it moves the power reserve indicator away from the dial and brings it to the movement. The beauty of the movement and its spectacular Shinshu Frost Finish are visible through the exhibition case back.
