Lake Suwa sits to the southeast of the Shinshu Watch Studio, where Grand Seiko crafts all Spring Drive watches. The new Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Style SLGA021 is inspired by this serene body of water, featuring a dark blue dial that recalls gently lapping waves along the water's surface just before dawn.
Representative of the Evolution 9 Style, the 40mm stainless steel case has a lower profile and center of gravity, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist. Its faceted mid-case features a blend of Grand Seiko's Zaratsu polishing and hairline finishing, giving the whole watch a dynamic look and feel. This level of finishing is accomplished by hand as it demands a high degree of skill.
Powered by Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2, SLGA021 has a notable 120-hour (5-day) power reserve and an improved accuracy of ±0.5 seconds per day, or ±10 seconds per month. 9RA2 takes the power-reserve indicator off the dial and moves it to the case back side of the watch. The seconds hand glides across the SLGA021’s textured blue dial, evoking the nature of time.
Designed in the Evolution 9 Style, the SLGA021 refines Grand Seiko’s ideals of beauty, legibility, and comfort. Its case blends distortion-free Zaratsu polishing with delicate hairline finishes for a soft glow, while bold, grooved indexes and powerful hands enhance readability.
To the southeast of the Shinshu Watch Studio, where Spring Drive watches are made, lies Lake Suwa. Its gently lapping waters have long served as a source of inspiration for Grand Seiko, capturing the essence of nature’s quiet elegance.
The dial of the Spring Drive SLGA021 brings this vision of Lake Suwa to life, mirroring the lake’s surface with its intricate texture. Gentle waves appear to ripple across the deep blue dial, shifting with the light like a breeze moving over water. Depending on the viewing angle, the color takes on varying shades, enhancing the sense of depth and movement that defines this remarkable design.
The case features delicate hairline-finished surfaces on the top and sides, seamlessly framing the mirror-finished areas. The bezel also blends both finishes. Zaratsu polishing ensures distortion-free surfaces, creating bold contrasts of deep shadows and sharp reflections.
Hand-assembled at the Shinshu Watch Studio, the Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2 embodies precision and craftsmanship. With an accuracy of ±10 seconds per month, it features an Offset Magic Lever for a slimmer profile, a repositioned crown for a balanced fit, and Dual-size Barrels that provide a 120-hour power reserve. The One-piece Center Bridge enhances durability and shock resistance, while the power reserve indicator is moved to the movement side for a clean, unobstructed dial.

Products may be returned to Grand Seiko Boutique Online within 14 days of the delivery date. Option for a return and refund or exchange is possible when the watch is returned in new, unworn condition, with all original contents included in the package. Upon receiving your return, Grand Seiko will verify the condition of the watch. If there are any missing items, damage, or wear found, you may be subject to fees accordingly. Please be sure to remove any jewelry or other watches before trying on the watch to avoid damage. Please do not size the watch if you return it as it will not be considered new.
